Filth heaps behind Secretariat exposes municipal service deliveryAugust 10, 2014
Karachi: Heaps of garbage and debris resting on the back-wall of Tughlaq House, Sindh Secretariat have exposed the delivery of municipal services in Karachi, as well as, efficiency of the top provincial administration.
For months, heaps of stinky garbage and debris stay in the street behind the Tughlaq House, Sindh Secretariat, the seat of provincial government of Sindh; however, not only the local government department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and district municipal authorities are least concerned about the public nuisance, but the Sindh chief secretary and administrative secretaries of the provincial government who sit in the Tughlaq House, Sindh Secretariat do not mind the heaps of filth and garbage in their backyard. If the Sindh government functionaries are even not interested to keep the backyard of their main secretariat clean, how they could ensure proper municipal services delivery to the far-flung areas of their province.
These heaps of garbage resting on the back wall of the Tughlaq House, Sindh Secretariat are also a grave security risk, which should be not be overlooked in the overall security situation of the city. The area residents have appealed to the Sindh chief secretary to take notice of the situation and order lifting of garbage from the street behind the Tughlaq House, Sindh Secretariat on priority basis.
