Five killed, 10 injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Five people were killed and ten others injured in different incidents of violence in the city on Sunday. Nadeem, 30, son of Abdul Waheed, was shot dead by unknown armed men in Ilyas Goth within the limits of PS Ibrahim Haidry. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

According to police, a 21-year-old man, identified as Adeel, was shot and injured by bandits on resistance to a robbery bid in Pehlawan Goth. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment where he succumbed to his injures.

Separately, a man was gunned down at Memon Goth in Malir. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet.

The body of a man bearing torture marks was found near shrine of Juman Shah in Quaidabad area and another man was found dead in Korangi. The bodies were shifted to JPMC for postmortem examinations. The identity of the victims could not be ascertained yet.

Two youths, Tanveer, 17, son of Ahmed, and Hunain, 16, son of Ameen, were injured by unknown armed men at Slaughter House in Lyari. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Three men, Altaf, 25, son of Muhammad Iqbal; Ghulam Qadir, 35, son of Shah Muhammad; and Baqar, 40, son of Ahsan, were shot and injured by bandits for offering resistance to a robbery bid at Bilal Medical Store in New Karachi near UP Morr. The injured were shifted to ASH for treatment.

Meanwhile, five people were injured in two separate grenade attacks in Orangi and Metroville. The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
