Five target killers among 8 criminals arrested: AIGPSeptember 3, 2014
KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi on Thursday claimed that East and West Zone police have arrested eight criminals including five target killers involved in the killing of policemen and sectarian violence in the city.
AIGP addressing a press conference at Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi, said that East and West Zone police arrested five target killers Syed Hassan Abbas alias Talha, son of Tariq Ali Naqvi alias Tariq Mamoon; Syed Ali Raza Zaidi, son of Mohammad Shafi Zaidi; Ghous Ali, son of Munir Ahmed; Mohammad Sajjad, son of Mohammad Shafi, and Aamir alias Nomi, son of Mohammad Khalil, involved in the killing of 73 people and three street criminals Dawood Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad; Mohammad Faisal, son of Abdul Majeed, and Mohammad Samir, son of Mohammad Illyas.
Thebo said that arrested target killer Syed Hassan Abbas, resident of Shah Faisal Colony No-4, had confessed his involvement in sectarian killing of six people with his accomplices, including the killing of three people Amjad Ali, Mohammad Saleem, and Syed Shahid at Drigh Road Cantt Bazaar on 13 April 2014.
He said that arrested man had confessed that he is al-Tashi and involved in the killing three students of Madrasa Darul Khair Seminary, Riaz, Hayat Ullah, and Ali Mohammad in Gulistan-e-Johar on 9th April 2014.
He said that another arrested target killer, Sayed Ali Raza Zadi had confessed the killing of three persons, including two students of Jamia Binoria Seminary Talha and Mohammad Usman near Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum.
AIGP further said that arrested target killer Ghous Ali was involved in the killing of nine persons in the city. He said that the accused had confessed his involvement in target killing of policemen within the limits of Ibrahim Haidery police station.
He said that the accused confessed that along with his accomplice, he opened fire on the police mobile of Ibrahim Haidery police and killed four policemen, SI Farhan, PC Mohammad Shafi, PC Akhtar Ali, and PC Didar Ali.
The police chief said that target killer Mohammad Sajjad was involved in the killing of 15 people and he had confessed his involvement in sectarian killing along with his accomplices.
He said that further investigation was under way.
Thebo said that arrested target killer Aamir alias Nomi was involved in the killing of 39 people in different areas of the city. Nomi was affiliated with a banned organization and involved in sectarian killings, he added.
On the other hand, three bandits were also arrested by East and West Zone police in the city. AIGP said that arrested accused Dawood and Faisal were involved in house robberies in different areas of the city. They confessed their involvement in street crimes and house robberies.
He said that they had looted golden jewellery, mobiles phones and cash worth Rs 2 million during a robbery in a house at Gulistan-e-Johar on 28th July 2014. He said that the looted mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.
AIGP said that street criminal, Sumeer had confessed that he looted Rs500,000 and mobiles phones from a pizza shop in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He said that the accused had snatched a repeater-gun and opened fire on security guard of the pizza shop in which the security guard Sher Khan was injured.
He said that police had recovered six pistols, one repeater-gun and bullets from the possession of the arrested criminals.
