FO: (Pakistan has right to take steps whatever it thinks appropriate for its defence: FO)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is a responsible nuclear State and would never accept any pressure on its nuclear programme, besides it has the right to take steps whatever it thinks appropriate for its defence.

This was stated by Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah in his weekly news briefing here on Friday. To a question, he said strategic balance is vital for peace and stability in the region and arms purchase by India would imbalance it.

He said Pakistan and Russia enjoy friendly relations and are cooperating in various fields. He said there is no difference between good and bad terrorists. He said Pakistan is taking action against all terrorist groups under Zarb-e-Azb operation.

He said terrorism is a common threat to the world which needs collective approach to be eliminated. He said we are cooperating with Afghanistan in this regard.

To a question, the Spokesman said international community should take notice of the terrorist activities of Shiv Sena. He said Pakistan wants to enhance its relations with Iran as part of Prime Minister’s vision of peaceful neighbourhood. He said removal of sanctions on Iran would offer opportunities for more inter-action between the two countries.

Talking about Daish, the Spokesman said there is no footprint of this group in Pakistan. To another question, he said Pakistan wants a peaceful settlement of Syrian issue through talks. He said Pakistan is deeply concerned over increasing threats to the regional peace and stability in the Middle East.

About Pak-Saudi relations, Qazi Khalilullah said we have deep cooperation in many fields including defence and security. He said the recent joint military exercises between the two countries were aimed at enhancing capabilities of both the countries to fight terrorism.
