FO: (Pakistan lodges protest over Indian unprovoked firing)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has lodged strong protest with India over the recent unprovoked firing at Shakargarh and Zafarwal Sectors which resulted in the martyrdom of three civilians including a teenage girl.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned to the foreign office here on Monday and deep concerns were conveyed to him over the unprovoked firing of Indian troops on the working boundary.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said intentional targeting of civilians by India is a detestable and deplorable act. He stressed upon India to stop forthwith the ceasefire violations and respect the 2003 Ceasefire Arrangement for restoration of peace and tranquillity at the LoC and the Working Boundary.

The spokesperson offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls. Pakistan also asked Indian government to investigate into the threatening call received by the Sindh Governor House from New Delhi.

The Indian Deputy High Commissioner was also asked to share with Pakistan the results of investigation.
