Food dept to open flood control centres

KARACHI: Minister for food Sindh Manzoor Hussain Wasan on Wednesday directed to make a data of affected areas and affectees of flood and ensure to manage provision of free of cost food for them.

Manzoor Wasan was presiding over a meeting at Sindh Secretariat. Secretary Food Sindh Laeeq Ahmad, Director Food Ahmad Ali Qureshi and district food directors were present.

He asked to establish control rooms at provincial and district levels and remain in coordination with other departments during the monsoon season. He said it would be ensured that deputy directors and district food Controllers are present in the affected areas.

He said wheat stock must be protected from weather affects, adding officers would be responsible for any mismanagement and the government will not tolerate any loss.

Later, the central flood control room of food department was made in the office of Director Food Ahmad Ali Qureshi.

It was also decided that under the supervision of Deputy Directors and District Food Controllers district flood control centres would be formed in all districts of Sindh
