Four people fall prey to city violence

KARACHI: Four people, including a woman, were gunned down and three others were injured in separate incidents of violence in the metropolis on Friday. Two persons were killed and one another was injured in firing on car in Surjani Town. The victims were identified as Sunny, 22, son of Mateen, Ashraf, 30, son of Islam-ud-Din, and Akhtar Ansari.

According to police and rescue sources, unknown armed men opened firing on a car and as a result of which three people were injured and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment where two persons, Sunny and Akhtar Ansari, succumbed to injuries, while Ashraf is under treatment.

All deceased and injured were allegedly workers of a religio-political party.

In another incident, Nadeem Abbas, 30, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in North Karachi Sector 5C. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.

Yet in another incident, an unknown woman, aged 22, was shot dead by unknown armed men near Lines Area telephone exchange. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Aslam, 45, son of Mohammad Maqbool, was injured in dagger attack in Orangi Town. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment. However, the motive behind attack and identification of attackers could not be ascertained.

Separately, Sultan, 25, son of Mureed was injured in firing incident by unknown armed men near Soorti Factory Behns Colony. He was taken to ASH for treatment.
