QUETTA: Improvement of economy is inevitable for strength of democracy. Law and order situation in Balochistan is better compared to several major cities of the country. People in 29 districts of the province were leading life below poverty line. Balochistan has thousands of years old civilization and there is need for further research of buried civilization and archaeology.

These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while speaking to Ambassador of France Francois Dall Orso here Monday.

He said our region is hit by disputes and different challenges such as sectarianism, extremism and others were confronting us. It is not only problem of Balochistan only but of entire region.

He said impression about deteriorated law and order situation in Balochistan is not correct. Present provincial government has taken solid measures for improving situation.

Malik Baloch said his government was paying special attention on education. Three new medical colleges and six universities were being setup in the province while 26 percent budget of the province has been earmarked for education. Still 2.3 million boys and girls do not go to schools. There is need for 12 thousand schools to bring them there for which massive Rupees 63 billion are needed which provincial development budget is to the tune of Rupees 40 billion only.

He said there are vast avenues of investment in education, agriculture, livestock, mining, fishery and energy sectors in Balochistan. Provincial government would provide security and special incentives to the investors. He said soon Balochistan Development forum would be organised in Islamabad and investors would be apprised of government strategy for investment opportunities in Balochistan.

French Ambassador said that Balochistan has extreme importance about civilization in the world and entire generation. France is keenly interested in further research here. He said his country is also interested in improving education, end to poverty and investment here.
