German Ambassador meets Governor

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai while appreciated projects undertaken by international organisations for districts affected by arrival of Afghan refugees in the province and welcomed new project and expressed hope that new projects would have positive impacts on local populations.

He was speaking to a delegation which called on him under the leadership of German Ambassador Ms Ina Lepel here Sunday.

Problems faced by Afghan refugees in their reparation to Afghanistan, two year extension, registration of unregistered Afghans and tripartite commission comprising Afghanistan, Pakistan and UN came under discussion at their meeting.

Representatives of ECHO, UNHCR, UNDP, RAHA and GIZ were included in the delegation.

Governor urged international organisations representatives to impart technical expertise and skills to local people so that they under self help basis arrange employment for their families.

He said return of Afghan refugees is though a serious but difficult problem. To further this there should be peaceful atmosphere in Afghanistan and common efforts can bring results in this regard.

Referring two year extension for return of Afghan Refugees Governor Achakzai said attention should be paid on their return during this period.

He appreciated cooperation in health sector in Balochistan and establishment of hospital. He also praised RAHA development projects but he called upon these organisation to take practical steps for looking after of these projects and their long term sustainability.

About injections provided for children he said to store these medicines and their correct utilisation there is need to enhance capability of local people.

Delegation apprised suggestions of Governor and thanked Government of Pakistan for hosting Afghan refugees for over three decades.
