Glowing tribute paid to noted poet Akhtar Hoshiarpuri

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Arts Council in collaboration with Bazm Arooj-e-Adab arranged a seminar in connection with death anniversary of renowned poet Akhtar Hoshiarpuri.

Senior poet and writer Maqsood Ahmed Rahi presided over the ceremony and Chairman National Foundation Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed Islahi was chief guest while Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed was guest of honour on the occasion. President Bazm Arooj-e-Adab Naeem Akram Qureshi anchored the seminar.

In his welcome address, Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed thanked all the participants and said Akhtar Hoshiarpuri was not only the precious asset of Pakistan but also sub-continent. Senior poet and writer Maqsood Ahmed Rahi said that Akhtar Hoshiarpuri’s poetry is integral part of modern Urdu poetry. Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed Islahi said that Akhtar Hoshiarpuri was sincere man and good lawyers besides a poet. Naem Akram Qureshi said Akhtar Hoshiarpuri’s poetry is great asset of Urdu literature.

Farkhunda Shamim said that Akhtar Hoshiarpuri represented his era due to his forceful poetry. Hakeem Mehmood Ahmed, Educationist Khalid Siddiqui, Begum Ruqaiyya Shah, Tanvir Zubairi and Pir Azmat Ullah Sultan also addressed and threw light on the life and literary services of Akhtar Hoshiarpuri. At the end of ceremony, dua was offered for the departed soul of Akhtar Hoshiarpuri and progress of the country by Pir Azmat Ullah Sultan.
