Governor along with home minister visits police stations

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has directed police authorities to improve the environment inside police stations so as to remove the negative impression about police in masses.

This will also encourage complainant to lodge their FIRs with their concerned police stations without any fear. This he directed during his visit of Saddar and Aziz Bhatti police stations last night. Minister Home Suhail Anwar Siyal and Additional IGP Karachi Mushtaq Maher also accompanied the Governor Sindh. He said that with small adjustments for the betterment of police stations the confidence of masses could be restored.

Dr Ebad said that effective monitoring and coordinated system could end prevailing crimes and to achieve this aim, police must improve its intelligence system to get desired results. Community policing is the key to end specially street crimes and all rapidly developing cities of the world have adopted community policing, he added

Dr. Ebad opined that there was an urgent need to analyse the data of crime on scientific basis because there are always few hot spot in the jurisdiction of every police station with regards to rate of crime. Governor Sindh said that police along with other law enforcement agencies has played its key role in establishing peace in Karachi under National Action Plan and people of Karachi, Sindh and whole country are thankful to them for their strenuous efforts. He reiterated the pledge that Karachi operation against terrorists, target killers, extortionists and kidnappers would continue till the elimination of last terrorist and its logical end.

Speaking to the media men on the occasion, the Governor Sindh said that main purpose of this visit was to apprise himself of the facts on ground and the performance and problems of police stations. Replying to a question, Governor Sindh said that after establishment of law and order in Karachi and initiation of development projects, attention is being attached on improving condition of police stations. Governor Sindh also met with a complainant at Saddar police station, who complained about the police behaviour and directed senior police officers to resolve his complaint.

Syal said that project of computerization of police stations would be revived. He said that he was also conducting surprise raids at police stations and pickets to improve their performance.
