QUETTA: Iranian authorities would soon finalise agreements with Pakistan to complete electricity, gas pipeline and other projects in time. Border committee would hold its meeting towards fall of current month to review matters regarding border issues.
These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Governor of Sistan Balochistan province of Iran Ali Ausat Hashmi at a joint Press conference here Sunday.
Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Adviser Obedullah Babat, Secretary Home Akbar Hussain Durrani, IG Balochistan Police Mohammad Amlish and others were present.
Chief Minister said that Pakistan has old historic, cultural and economic relations with Iran. Governor Sistan Balochistan during his visit held meetings with Governor, Commander Southern Command, Chamber of Commerce and with him. It is our desire our economic relations with Iran are stabilized and trader is promoted. To further develop it three more areas of Balochistan Panjgur, Turbat and Gwadar we should promote legal trade which would enable people to have employment avenues and promotion of trade between two countries and further harmony between traders and people of two countries.
He asked for early completion of agreement for providing 100 mw of electricity to Gwadar and 1000 mw for Balochistan. Besides it is desire of Pakistan government that work of Gas pipeline agreement is implemented t the earliest because we have severe shortage of energy in the domestic and industrial sectors.
He said to stop incidents occurred along the border committee meeting would be held on January 27 and 28. At the meeting we would provide details of the incidents from Iran side. These details have already been provided to Iran.
He invited Iranian investors to invest in minerals, fisheries and industrial sectors. We would provide them all sorts of security and other facilities. Besides agreements would also be made for cultural, Parliamentarians and trader delegations exchange and admissions at the Iranian universities.
He said it is also desire of Government of Pakistan and Balochistan to promote good relations with neighbouring Iran and Afghanistan and play role for sustainable peace in the region.
Governor Sistan Ali Ausat Hashmi said that during his two day visit to neighbouring Pakistan he was very much delighted. He said it is commitment of two governments to cooperate with each other in trade and other sectors and our good relations remain intact.
He said Iranian government accord priority to its relations with Islamic countries in which Pakistan is at top. We want to expanded good relations in all the sectors education and trade. For this reason our officials have carried out four visits to Pakistan during the past 10 months. We are also visiting Balochistan which is sign of good and strong relations between two countries.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also visited Tehran. We want to strengthen relations of hearts. Both the countries are aware of their abilities and all the projects would be implemented in time. Our people would benefit from the agreements on which we have signed. Our strive is to strengthen infrastructure and accord priority to development. Iran is situation with Pakistan so we can provide all goods at cheaper rates. Electricity and gas projects would also be completed shortly.
Governor Sistan said Iran and Pakistan by providing avenues for legal trade can ensure stopping smuggling. Iran can provide facilities to the people by establishing market in Pakistan.
Answering a question he said there is no problem of law and order along the borders but there are some elements who want to pollute Pakistan’s soil. Pakistan was also keeping eye on such elements and Iranian forces were also watching them Both Iran and Pakistan were working jointly.
Answering another question he said Iranian check posts were attacked and forces people were abducted. Our dead bodies should be given to us. Terrorists have modern weapons and steps would be taken for its elimination.
