ISLAMABAD: Minister for Education and Professional Training Engr Mohammad Baligh Ur Rehman on Wednesday said the government is giving due importance to sports activities in the National Education Policy 2016 in which it has been made mandatory to have some kind of physical and sports activities in every educational institution.

Speaking at Annual Prize Distribution ceremony at Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), he said physical and sports activities are very important for a healthy mind and government is fully committed to provide mandatory sports facilities to each and every school in the country.

Sports inculcate some amazing values in players and most important of them is the sportsman spirit, the minister said. He said winner should take the win with poise and should not get carried away. Similarly, he said a loser should accept the defeat with grace and do better next time instead of maligning the winner.

He said this is the beauty of the sports which reflects in our practical life as well. He said success and loss are part and parcel of life so we should accept whatever comes our way instead of waiting for the third umpire.

He said the players like Jaan Sher Khan, Inzamam ul Haq, Samiullah, Naseem Hameed and many more live in the hearts of people. “So make them your role model and look up to them to become great payers in future”, he emphasized.

At the end the minister congratulated all the players who were awarded and admired the efforts of FBISE saying that we are working with regional boards as well to make them at par with other international level boards.
