Grand operation announced against drains’ encroachment

KARACHI: On the special directive of Sindh Minister for Local Government Jam Khan Shoro, Korangi Municipality’s Administrator Ghulam Rasool on Sunday announced grand operation against illegal encroachments occupying drainage lines causing toxic environment and trouble for municipality workers while cleaning them.

Municipality’s authorities said that rain-water drains will be cleaned properly for ensuring healthy environment to residents of district Korangi. The illegal encroachments and sewerage connections from those drains lines will be removed so that better drainage system could be ensured.

All work has been done to take action against illegal encroachers occupying these drains, said Rasool. He urged people not to throw garbage or make connection into rain-water drains. He told officials during his visit to Shah Faisal Colony where he inspected ongoing cleaning work of the drains. He directed them to accelerate cleaning work so that the maximum lines could be cleaned before expected rains and healthy environment could be ensured. He also directed officials to take special measures for ensuring better cleaning surrounding mosques, schools, hospitals, and streets.
