Grand Tribal Jirga of NW demands withdrawal of ultimatum to Eidak tribeAugust 8, 2014
Peshawar: Grand Tribal Jirga of Dawar And Wazir Tribe on Saturday demanded of the government to withdraw its ultimatum against Edak tribe of Waziristan and let the IDPs to return those areas have been cleared in operation.
Grand Jirga of Utmanzai tribe consist of 60 members of Dawar and Wazir held a meeting with Commissioner Bannu Division Syed Mohsin Shah and urged him to convey the concerns of Jirga about the new ultimatum to Eidak tribe for vacating the area within 45 hours.
Led By Chief of Wazir Nasrullah and Malik Sher Mohammad, the Grand Jirga urged government that Eidak tribe had always helped the government and government had allowed Eidak Tribe live in North Waziristan when operation Zarb-e-Azb was started.
Malik Mohammad Alam, representative of Eidak tribe assured that his tribe is ready to protect the area from militants and unwanted elements and completely cooperate with the government therefore they should not be forced to vacate the area.
He said elders of the Jirga are ready to take action against any miscreants if found in Eidak tribe but at this time it would be very difficult for the tribe which passed hard days in Waziristan, to vacate their land.
Jirga member were united on the issue that they should be allowed to go back to these areas where operation has been successfully conducted adding that except Waziristan IDPs living in schools would have no place to leave if government forced them to vacate public school buildings before end of summer vocations in schools of district Bannu.
Jirga members also demanded education facilities for those students who are living as IDPs in various areas of Bannu and district Karak. “ we need our children should be educated as more than 80 thousands students of North Waziristan have been living as IDPs where no education facility has been available to them” the Jirga members said.
They also demanded for registration of those IDPs who are caring ID cards with double address saying that it is unfair to deprive them of their rights just on the basis of double address on their ID cards.
Jirga members also demanded increase of Nadra points as well as allow them to shift their dead bodies for burial in their ancestral graveyard in Waziristan.
“ we need an urgent meeting with Corps Commander and Governor KPK to inform them of our demands” the Jirga members told commissioner asking him to arrange the meeting of Jirga with governor at earliest.
Commissioner Bannu Syed Muhsin Shah assured Jirga members that he would convey Jirga’s demand to the security forces and hopefully Eidak tribe would not be forced to vacate Waziristan.
He also assured that Jirga’s meeting with Governor would be arranged as soon as possible while tent schools would be arranged for IDPs children to continue their education. He said that NADRA points have already been increased in Bannu to facilitate IDPs.
He also said the issue of shifting dead bodies to Waziristan and protect the properties of businessmen in Miran Shah and Mir Ali Bazars would also be discussed at the high forum.
