Growers decry water scarcity

KARACHI: Growers of district Badin on Monday complained about scarcity of irrigation water in their area.

The growers, residents of Abdullah Shah Goth, Union Council of Nando, said that they have been facing severe shortage of water in tail-end areas because influential persons of the area steal water of their share.

Addressing a press conference, Mohammad Siddiq Panhwar said Sindh is an agriculture province, but its growers are deprived of their basic rights. He said the government seems not serious to resolve the issues of farmers. He said the present government is unable to stop the influential waderas from stealing water. He claimed that some officers of Irrigation department are also involved in water this theft.

He appealed the high authorities to help them in getting due share of irrigation water for their farmlands.
