Health authorities decide to remove ‘Hepatitis Program’ head

KARACHI: Health Department Sindh has decided to remove Provincial Manager, Hepatitis Prevention & Control Programme (Chief Minister Initiatives) Sindh over torturing journalists and other complaints.

According to sources, the staff of hepatitis program Sindh allegedly subjected torture on journalists in provincial office situated in Hyderabad few days ago. The authorities concerned also received several other complaints against incumbent officials of program.

The health department Sindh has decided to remove provincial program manager Dr Zahoor Baloch and summery had been moved to chief secretary Sindh for approval.

Special Secretary, Public Health (Sindh), Dr Khalid Sheikh confirmed the development and said directives had been issued to remove program manager. He said program manger himself wanting to leave the post.

He said Monitoring Officer, Hepatitis Program, Dr Kazim Memon has been directed to take charge of program manager.

Sources said deputy program manager had been removed from his post after incident, while program manger would be changed within two or three days.
