Healthcare facilities being provided to masses: minister

KARACHI: Provincial Health Minister Dr Mehtab Hussain on Thursday said that Sindh Government is trying to provide population based health facilities to the people and health system strengthening district level plan is much better in the province as compared to other provinces.

This he said while attending a presentation from USAID Health Systems Strengthening, here at its office Clifton. Dr Nabeela Ali Chief of Program HSS USAID briefed Health Minister about the goal of the program and told him that the goal of the USAID Health System Strengthening Component is to support innovative, cost effective, quality of programs to strengthen systems around reproductive, maternal, and child health services for improved outcomes.

He appreciated that through a program LHWs’ working was being improved and deficiency of nutrition was made up in certain districts of Sindh. He said that in collaboration with USAID Rs502 million would be spent on District Action Plan to enhance health facilities in the province. He said Sindh health budget is increased by 26% from last year (from Rs.43 billion to Rs 57 billion).

He said that nutrition of mother and child was being improved in Thatta, Tando Allah Yar, Dadu, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Umerkot, Noshehroferoze, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Ghotki and Larkana and health service sector was also being made better in collaboration with USAID.

He said that due to revolutionary steps taken by Sindh Health Department, things were getting better in health sector and the people were getting the better facilities of health.
