DIG said they had already written an official letter to Sindh Transport Department’s Secretary Taha Farooqui to issue taximeters and rickshawmeters to all vehicles so that these vehicles could be stopped for overcharging Karachiities.
Dr Amir said in the first phase action would be taken against taxis running without meters and overcharging public. It was also said that some vehicles have taximeters and when asked to start, they deny by saying that their meters are faulty. He said there is dire need to take action against those illigal vehicles in the city as every morning commuters are seen fighting with taxi drivers on fare charges.
