IGP orders strict security of new year eve

KARACHI: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Hyder Jamali on Wednesday directed officials concerned to ensure strict security on the eve of the new year.

The IGP instructed that strict security steps should be taken along sea side, shopping centers, fast food chains, departmental stores, busy routes and others public places, while random snap checking, police picketing and patrolling also need to be ensured.

He said that on the occasion of the new year, fireworks, aerial firing, removal of silencer of motor-cycles will not be allowed under 144 sections and action will be taken against the infringement.

The IGP has been told in a report that 3400 police personnel are being deployed at Clifton, sea sides and other surrounding areas, where 70 police mobiles and 95 motorcycle riding police officers will perform security duties, while 16 snap checking points and 13 police pickets are also being set up.
