IGP orders strict security on Eid

KARACHI: Acting Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Saturday instructed the police officials to ensure strict security on the eve of Eid, by effective police and better intelligence sharing with federal and provincial law enforcement agencies.

He instructed to ensure the security of mosques, Imam Bargahs, Eidgahs, shopping centers, markets, public places, and other important installations as per the Eid contingency plan.

Jamali also instructed to make effective police picketing and snap checking on the exits and entrances of sensitive parts of the city and take important steps for police mobile, motorcycle on on-foot patrolling to keep close vigil on suspected elements.

He said asked for deployment of additional contingents including plainclothes, effective wireless and communication systems, prompt contact between the main control room and other wireless bases and formation of police reporting centers in markets.

He also instructed the traffic police make a plan for better flow of traffic on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
