IGP orders upgradation of plan for educational institions’ security

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Monday directed police officers to upgrade contingency security plan for all private and government schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions at district level.

IG directed officers to provide offices™ numbers of DIGs, DSPs and SSPs to all private and government schools at the district level. Schools™ managements should have mobile number of SHO of their relevant police station. he said.

Jamali urged DSPs, SSPs and SHOs to review security measures in in their respective jurisdiction. He directed to arrange scheduled meetings with stakeholders to secure lives of students and teachers.

IGP directed to ensure several security measures including installation of security cameras at schools, issuance of special entry cards for students and teachers, removal of encroachments in front of schools. Police should make foolproof security in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, he directed.

Police’s random snap checking and patrolling should be made strict along the routes leading to schools in the outskirts of the city, Jamali directed. He directed to formulate an emergency response plan which would comprised overall security measures, strategy and plans.
