KARACHI: IG Sindh chaired a meeting at CPO to review measures for upgrading the existing traffic system in Karachi.

The meeting was attended by Additional IGPs of Karachi & Traffic, DIGs of HQtrs, Driving License Branch, Traffic, SRP and AIGs Operations and Logistics CPO.

IG Sindh approved establishment of a dedicated Traffic Police Station, as a pilot project, in District South. The PS would be meant to entertain complaints of citizens regarding different traffic violations and to register incidents occur during RTA.

The meeting decided in principle to have a highly represented ‘Traffic Management Board (TMB)’ for a better coordinated traffic system in the city. The TMB would include representatives of all the concerned departments having stakes in the traffic system of Karachi.

IG Sindh issued directives to make arrangement for removal of encroachments from/on the roads and footpaths within a week time. He further warned that SHO & HM of PS and SO & RK would be taken to task in case of reappearance of encroachments in the very area.

IG Sindh approved 500 extra policemen, 100 M/Cs and 10 cars for the Karachi Traffic Police for immediate resolving the traffic issues during the month of Ramadan.
