Interaction between administration, citizens much needed: Hotiana

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana said interaction between administration and citizens was need of the hour to resolve the issues encountered by the citizens and Pur-Aman Karachi Newsletter launched by the commissioner house was a practical initiative in this regard.

He said while talking to a launching ceremony of Pur-Aman (peaceful) Karachi Newsletter, a monthly newsletter covering all the uplift projects administered by commissioner Karachi, on Tuesday.

Hotiana recalled his memory when he had no such resources and was working in Gilgit-Baltistan where he used social media for interaction with the local people, as people lived in far-flung areas, to inform them about the ongoing projects and understand their problems. He said that it was nice to see that Karachiites could have access to know the developments of their local areas through official newsletter.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said the purpose of launching the newsletter was to spread positive image of the city and bridge the gap between administration and the citizens.

He lauded the efforts of Shahzaib Sheikh, additional commissioner general and editor of the newsletter.

Renowned dramatist Haseena Moin said when youth of any part of land struggle to dig out success then nothing could prevent the nation to become successful.

She also praised the commissioner for his interests in literature, poetry and other cultural activities along civic issues.

“I wish if we could photocopy the commissioner to produce another hundred commissioners like this one for the best interest of Karachi,” Moin said.

IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali stressed to promote community policing and de-weaponization. He also pointed out the missing section of crime report in the newsletter.

Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui, Station Commander Karachi Brig Farrukh Waseem Khan, representatives of Russian Consulate, British Council, Karachi airport, disaster management, Ufone and other organizations were also present on the occasion and all vowed their full support for the newsletter and the city and valued the efforts.

The newsletter includes different sections such as education, health, youth affairs, sports, disaster management, price control and concluding and coming events. Most importantly it also has a website where an important section has a direct link to upload information through a form to placement bureau, an organization to eradicate unemployment, in order to get job.

The present organizations, consulates, air port were requested to put the newsletter in their lounges so that people from within the city, out of the city and abroad could get positive information about the city at hand.
