International film festival to improve soft image of country

Karachi: International film festival scheduled in Pakistan would help to improve soft image of country, besides promoting local entertainment industry, said CEO of the first Karawood film festival Batool Khan.

She said all arrangements have already been finalized for this festival and in this regard KWIFF has received 140 films from Pakistan and other countries.

She said the festival will begin on the fourth day of Eid in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The best films in different categories will be given cash prizes of $5000, $3000, and $2000. However, the best feature film will get a grand award. In this regard a memorandum of understanding has already been signed between Cinepax and KWIFF.

Batool Khan said that this festival will break the inertia from local film industry. She said promotion of cinema and film industry in Pakistan is there mission.

President of the first Karawood film festival Khalid Khan said this festival would help in further promoting the soft image of Pakistan in whole world. He said Pakistan is a peaceful country having ample scope for the cultural activities.

This crucial festival would prove a milestone for Pakistani film and cinema industry and would surely help in the revival of this important industry. The films of international standard could also be made in Pakistan. He said we have a lot of talent but lack proper resources.

It is hoped that this film festival would be highly successful and provide entertainment to people. There is need that the film festival should be made an annual event and arranged regularly. Pakistani artists and actors are very talented and they should be promoted. It is necessary that the government of Pakistan should support our film industry.
