Ishaq Dar, Chinese Ambassador discuss forthcoming visit of Chinese PresidentAugust 26, 2014
Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong called on Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries and forthcoming visit of Chinese President to Pakistan.
The Ambassador said we are happy to see Pakistan-China Economic Corridor moving ahead smoothly. He mentioned that currently third round of Pakistan-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) is going on successfully and mega projects in energy and infrastructure sectors with the help of Chinese Government will bring development and economic progress of Pakistan. He said that China as friend will continue to take this relationship to a new height.
He appreciated Pakistan’s support for Asia Infrastructure Development Bank and observed that Pakistan is one of its founding members.
He underlined that forthcoming visit of Chinese President to Pakistan next month, will open new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that China will be assisting Pakistan in 14 energy projects and four mega infrastructure projects including Karakorum Highway Phase-II, development of Gwadar Port, Lahore-Karachi Motorway and Orange Line Metro Project in Lahore.
Sun Weidong said that China has no agenda other than cooperation in development and economic progress of Pakistan.
The Finance Minister on this occasion mentioned about the strong cooperation and common stand in international forums by the two countries and appreciated unprecedented support by China.
He said the government is looking forward to expand our relationship to a new height and replace traditional diplomacy with the economic diplomacy. He said that the economic corridor will reduce transportation cost between Pakistan and China and enhance trade and investment for great future of this region.
Ishaq Dar said that the energy and infrastructure projects with the help of Chinese Government will contribute to economic progress of Pakistan and it is recognized by the masses in Pakistan. He hoped that the projects in the pipeline will be completed on time.
He also informed the Ambassador that the political leadership in Pakistan is looking forward to welcome Chinese President’s historic visit and hoped that the visit will usher into a new era of progress and development of the two countries.
