JI to revive past glory of Karachi: Naeem

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Amir Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the JI will play its role in revival of the past glory of the city of lights. He said his party has completed its homework regarding the upcoming local government (LG) elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said that the submission of nomination nominations would be completed by Wednesday (today). He said that JI has decided to utilize all resources to gain the trust of voters.

He said that despite being the industrial and financial capital of the country, Karachi had been in tight clutches of ethnic and corruption mafias. He hoped that his party would restore the glory of this city.

He said that several parties have approached him for seat adjustment, adding negotiations are under way over the formula of seat adjustment with some political parties as well as notables from a large number of union councils.

He further said that the JI possess a history of representing the metropolis of Karachi and serving the city with honesty. In the current scenario when fascist elements are unable to twist the polling process, JI would be the most important player in the political arena of the city, he said.
