JI women wing announces to observe 10 days campaign to mark ‘Haya Day,

KARACHI: To mark the international Hijab Day on September,4, 2015, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Women Wing has announced to observe a 10 day campaign entitled ‘Farogh-e-Hijab Campaign’.

This was announced at a press conference on Wednesday at JI headquarters. Addressing the conference, JI Karachi Women Wing’s Secretary General Durdana Siddiqui said that unfortunately our society, as well as the entire global community, has been facing a storm of vulgarity and declining positive social values.

She said that the disastrous trends of immodesty have affected our society in such a badly manner that brought an acute unrest among elders of each and every family.

To a question, she said that the recent gruesome incident at a school in Karachi is evident that how horrible and derailing are the impacts of these glamorous trends. She was of the view that our social system is responsible for such crimes. The deteriorating social system is a matter of concern for us as well as entire society, she added.

The aim of our efforts is to create an environment where such type of incidents could not be happen, the JI leader said and added that a joint effort is a must in creating a safe and moral environment for our future generations.

She made it clear that the JI is not against women’ education and said that the JI is not only willing to spread education among girls but is also in favour of women entrepreneurship as per the teachings of Islam.

Talking about the campaign, she said that Mushaira, seminars, stalls would be setup, besides distributing literature, sending gifts of scarves to people from several walks of life. She further said that legislators would also be taken onboard over the issue. The Mushaira would be held on September 4 at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi under the banner of ‘Hareem-e-Adab’.

She said that September 4 is celebrated across the world as International Day for Hijab since 2004, as per the decision of an assembly of Muslim scholars led by renowned scholar Allama Yousaf Al Qurzavi, he informed the press conference.

She also appealed media to play its due role in supporting JI for positive values and norms in the society.
