JPMC emergency needs electric water cooler

Karachi: Pakistan largest emergency-catering public healthcare institution, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has no electric water cooler installed in its Accident & Emergency Department for employees, patients and their attendants, said an official of A&E Department on condition of anonymity.

He said there is no electric water cooler for staff working in three shifts, patients and their attendants. He said staff members, patients and their attendants go to nearby mosque, restaurants to drink water. He said poor patients and staff members could not afford buying mineral water from stores on Rs 50 per bottle.

He informed that two electric water coolers were bought about eight months ago for the emergency department but they are yet to be installed. He said patients and staff face problems to fetch water for drinking especially during night hours.

Joint Director and In-charge JPMC Department Dr Seemi Jamali was not available for comment.
