Karachi: The house officers of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Karachi protested against Sindh government for not paying their stipend of last five months, at Karachi Press club (KPC) here on Monday.

The protesters were holding placards and shouting slogans against the government. They demanded payment of their stipend on urgent basis.

Talking to media they said they do not want to go on strike as patients will suffer unnecessarily. However, they warned that their stipends up to September 2015 were not paid within two weeks they would be left with no option but to go on strike.

They said in case of their strike in the first phase they will stop working in wards, OPDs and OTs and if still their stipends were not released they later on we will stop working in they would boycott emergency duties too. The government is continually ignoring this issue and sending a negative message to young doctors, they regretted.
