LARKANA: JUI-Fazal Secretary General, Maulana Raashid Mahmood Soomro, has said that resolution presented in Punjab Assembly by Jamat-e-Islami (JI) about construction of Kalabagh Dam is unlawful and against the spirits of Shariah.

He said this in a press statement issued here on Wednesday. He challenged JI to hold a debate with him over the dam issue in the context of Shariah. Soomro said that JI is calling itself a religious party and it must also read the Shariah properly. He said that over 100 noted and well known Ulema of Sindh had issued Fatwa against the construction of the dam, who were led by his late father Allama Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro which was based on Shariah.

Soomro said that no injustice will ever be tolerated with Sindh, adding the dam is like a dead horse and should not be touched. He said that JI must refrain from trying its (KBD) rebirth, which will only result in throwing salt over the injuries of people of Sindh as three provinces had already rejected it. He said that their stance is clear that whenever the construction of Kalabagh Dam is kicked off, JUI-F will resist such move with full force.
