Karachi police officers asked to meet public daily

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar (PSP) on Wednesday directed all Zonal DIGs and SHOs to meet public on regular basis.

AIGP Karachi Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar chaired a high-level meeting at Central Police Office to review law and order situation in the city and discuss ways and means to improve the police performance and reduce crime in the city.

DIGP East Munir Ahmed Shaikh, DIGP West Feroz Shah, DIGP South Dr Jamil Ahmed, DIGP Admin Sultan Ali Khawaja, DIGP CIA, all seven SSPs of Karachi police districts also attended the meeting.

Mahar highly appreciated all Zonal DIGs, SSPs for performing their duties on the auspicious days of Eid-u-Fitr-2015 in befitting manner.

He directed all zonal DIGs and all SHOs to meet public on regular basis from 14.00 to 16.00 and 16.00 to 1700 hours (five days a week) respectively, to listen to their grievances. In this connection a notice board should be fixed outside their offices.

It has been observed that the flow of traffic on different roads is not smooth, due to which criminal elements take benefit and snatch money and other things from citizens. SDPOs and SHOs are bound to ensure better flow of traffic.

He said organized crime i.e. gambling, narcotics dens should not be tolerated. All SSPs and SHOs are directed to report in writing that no any vice den is running in their jurisdictions, within three days. If any contrary information came to the notice, strict departmental action will be taken against the delinquents.

All zonal DIGs are directed to monitor the performance of their SHOs on monthly basis.
