Karachi remains peaceful

KARACHI: The main roads in the city almost depicted a deserted look on Monday following the holiday announcement by the government and strict security arrangements made in the city including diversion of routes as many roads were closed by placing containers on roads creating easiness for some and difficulty for the others.

People mostly preferred to remain at home as Wagah Border blast further excavated the fear of any untoward situation in the city. Markets were almost closed, mobile services suspended from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening.

Children and youngsters started occupying streets in the afternoon to play cricket and enjoy the holiday. “Thanks God! No mishap has taken place in Karachi today,” said an old man taking a sigh of relief in the evening as the central mourning procession that emerged from Nishter Park and concluded in Kharadar.
