KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui said that the municipal staff could not avail better medical facilities without bringing improvement in the recovery of revenue. “Karachi Development Authority Wing’s medical department should formulate a new policy to provide medical facilities to its employees so that they could receive medical facilities without putting heavy financial burden on the organization,” he said this while addressing a meeting of officers of medical department of KDA Wing on Wednesday.
The administrator said that it was necessary to fully computerize the medical department so that any chances of corruption could be averted. The officers have to review and think about this. We all have to make our organization strong and financially sound.
He said the departments should restrict their expenditures to the budgetary limits. The budget of KMC for current fiscal year has been made realistic and it was expected to enhance the revenue for KMC.
He said nowhere in the world, medical facilities were provided 100 percent free of cost and the government gives subsidy for it. With only 7 percent recovery, KMC could not afford to provide free of cost medical facilities to 25 million citizens.
