KE pulls down many illegal power connections

Karachi : K-Electric released details related to the ongoing Burq campaign which is targeting heavy defaulters and thieves from all pockets of the city.

According to these details, KE along with the FIA and Rangers confiscated more than 3,800 Kundas (illegal connection) of weight more than 2000 Kilograms. More than 9,50 illegal connections were pulled down in the areas of Lyari. Pathan Colony, Manghopir and New Mianwali Colony remained under special focus.

In one of the raids, a 200 KVA illegal PMT from Bismillah Market, Jhanjar Goth Super Highway was lifted in the vicinity of IBC Gadap with the help of the FIA. A mafia group was targeted in this vicinity which was involved in providing electricity illegally to a residential and commercial area. This mafia was taken into Rangers custody and investigation is underway. A meat and milk shop was also caught red-handed stealing electricity and arrests were made from the Sadr area.

In another night raid Midway Hospital was raided in Nazimabad No.3 where power theft was evident and caught. A final notice and a penalty was imposed. A residential consumer was raided in Malir Cantt during late hours, and this massive bungalow was stealing electricity directly from the Main Cable. The Meter was removed from site whereas 3 PMTs were disconnected due to extremely low recovery in Jumma Goth, Korangi.

In other raid more than 500 KUNDAS (illegal connections) were removed in the areas of Dashtiyar Apartment PMT, Shumail Complex and Bakhtawar goth fall under the jurisdiction of KE’s region 1.
