KHA demands to reconstruct Bahrain Kalam roadMarch 24, 2015
Peshawar: Kalam Hotel Association General Secretary Rahmat Din Siddiqi asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and PTI chairman Imran Khan to fulfil their promises regarding reconstructions of Bahrain Kalam road and appoint medical specials along with gynaecologist for category B hospital in Tehsil Kalam.
He was addressing a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. Senior vice president Habib-ur-Rahman and Joint Secretary Shere Malik also flanked with him. General Secretary Rahmat Din Siddiqui said the devastating flood of 2010 have badly affected ever aspect of life in scenic valley of Kalam.
He said that 36 kilometre roads from Bahrain to Kalam is lying in dilapidated condition which has endangered the live and property of the residents as several untoward incidents occurred due to bad condition of roads.
He added that despite natural tourist spot, government has so far not taken any step to restore power supply to the areas despite allocation of billion of rupees for various dam projects.
Rahmat Din said that former ANP government has inaugurated Mutaltan Hydro Power project of 85 Mega Watt but no practical work has been started on this project.
He accused PTI chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for hollow slogans and said that no single practical step have been taken for construction of this road. He informed that due to lack of proper road the hotel association will suffer major financial loss as the Hotel industry is the only source of their income.
“The incumbent government has also promised to appoint Specialist doctors for Kalam Hospital but a not step has been taken for the appointment of the doctors. Beside health sector the educational institution also lacks teaching staff and science teachers” he lamented.
The communication system including telephone exchange is not working in Kalam while the postal service and postal staff are not available to facilitate the masses.
He also criticized the role of SMEDA for misusing nine million dollars donated by various donor agencies for the revival of tourism sector in Kalam.
He appealed Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak to take practical steps for revival of tourism sector in Kalam and announce a compensation package for road construction and Hotel industry in order to attract tourists in the upcoming summer season.
