Khuhro says curriculum being made liberalJuly 23, 2014
KARACHI: Senior Minister for Education Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Thursday that curriculum of class 1 to 4 has been revised and 27.5 million free-of-cost books distributed in Sindh government schools yet this year, while curriculum of class 5 to 8 would be reviewed by May 2015.
He said that curriculum was being amended in order to make children mindset patriotic, progressive and liberal.
Khuhro told media that an advisory committee, headed by Professor Muhammed Memon, comprised of scholars, academicians, philosophers, writers and thinkers was working on the betterment of the curriculum.
He said that Sindh government would try its best to get the physically challenged kids in their net for education and ensure that no stone was left unturned.
“Education department understands the importance of education for special children, that’s why it would be ensured that they are not deprived,” the minister said.
Professor Muhammed Memon said that training programs would be held for teachers to educate them the teaching method for special children and general curriculum teaching training would also be provided.
“Curriculum would be checked through research even after its implementation, which would be the one-off method of its kind throughout the country,” the professor said.
Khuhro, while replying to a question, said that, according to a report he received, 1800 schools were reopened that had been closed, however, it still needed verification.
He further said that it was Sindh government’s responsibility to distribute free-of-cost books to government schools.
