KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued show cause notice to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) administrator for disobeying its order regarding removal of unlawful structures from amenity plot in North Nazimabad, a neighbourhood of the city.

A division bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing an application filed by Karam Dad, Feroz Khan and others, who have taken KMC administrator and other officials to the court for flouting it earlier order dated November 2, 2011 that directed KMC top officials to remove illegal construction from amenity plot.

The bench issued show cause notice to KMC administrator to explain as to why proceedings for disobedience of directions of this court may not be initiated against him. It ordered that he should either be present in person with response or through concerned director on Thursday (August 28).

Applicants, who were residing in Block W of Allama Iqbal Town, North Nazimabad, submitted that according to master plan of the area, there exists amenity plot in front of their houses, which was illegally occupied by the encroachers in earlier part of 2008.

They said that relevant officials got cleared the amenity plot of illegal encroachments but later allowed construction of residential building on the plot, which was clear violation of the master plan.

They said the court on November 2, 2011 had allowed their petition against illegal construction on amenity plot and directed officials concerned to remove the illegal structures but its orders were not complied with yet.
