KMC sets up 42 Heatstroke Relief Centres in city

KARACHI: In view of the situation created due to hot weather, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has established Heatstroke Relief Centres in 42 medical centres of the city where all necessary medical facilities and medicines had been provided with doctors, paramedics and other staff.

In a meeting chaired by KMC Administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro, it was decided that these heatstroke relief centres will work till next orders on round the clock basis and the Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui would personally monitor their performance so that any required action could be taken any time without delay.

The metropolitan commissioner has said so far 42 Heatstroke Relief Centres were setup by KMC in all areas of the city including katchi abadies, however more such centers will be established if required.

KMC has established Heatsroke Relief Centre in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Home Hospital, Landhi Medical Centre, Sarfraz Rafiqui Shaheed Hospital, Gazdarabad Hospital, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, Soldier Bazar Maternity Home, PIB Maternity Home, Liaquatabad Maternity Home, Model Colony Maternity Home, Korangi 2 ½ Maternity Home, MS Centre Sindhi Muslim Society, Shanti Nagar, Landhi Dispensary, Landhi Cardiac Centre, Shah Faisal Cardiac Centre, Shah Faisal Maternity Home, Lyari Primary Health Care Centre, Spencer Eye Hospital, Homeopathic Hospital Nazimabad, Gharibabad, F.B Area, Manghopir Maternity Home, Leprosy Hospital Manghopir, Miran Naka Maternity Homel, Mehmoodabad Maternity Home, Hijrat Colony Dispensary, Staff Clinic Liaquatbad, Khokhrapar M.C.S Centre, Kemari Maternity Home, Gadap Dispensary, Bin Qasim Dispensary, Gulshan-e-Hadeed Dispensary, Naik Mohammad Dispensary Malir, Sharafi Goth Dispensary, Office of Chief Medical Officer West, South, Korangi, Central, Malir, KDA Polyclinic at Civic Centre Gulshan-e-Iqbal and at other medical institutions and the citizens have been appealed to contact these centres in any emergency situation.
