SIALKOT:,,, The Ambassador of Korea in Pakistan Mr. Dr. Song Jong-Hwan has said that Korea would continue to support Pakistan’s energy sector and economical development agenda, besides, pledging to make all out sincere efforts to boost mutual trade ties between Pakistan and Korea and to remove all the hurdles in this regard.
He stated this while addressing an important meeting of Sialkot business community held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here Thursday. SCCI President Dr. Sarfraz Bashir and Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Anwar were also present on this occasion.
Korean Ambassador stressed upon the need of further strengthening the mutual trade ties and bilateral trade between Pakistan and Korea, saying that the Korea was much keen to enhance mutual trade volume in favour of Pakistan. He said that the Pakistan was the trust-worthy economy partner of Korea due to which various Korean companies were keenly interested to bring maximum investment in Pakistan especially in establishing hydel power generation projects energy and technology up gradation sectors.
Korean Ambassador Mr. Dr. Song Jong-Hwan said that the Pakistan government’s persisting economical development oriented policies were very positive, business-friendly and result-oriented and these policies were moving towards the right direction of economical stability in Pakistan. He said that the continuity of these policies would also help Pakistan to bring maximum foreign investment in Pakistan.
He said that there were bright opportunities to set up several joint ventures between Sialkot and Korea in different trade fields, saying that the Sialkot exporters should come forward and explore and capture the Korean international trade markets by exporting their diversified traditional and non-traditional export products to Korea.
He highly praised the Sialkot for producing the Brazuca football, which was being played in FIFA Foot Ball World Cup 2014 in Brazil now-a-days.
On this occasion, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Dr. Sarfraz Bashir said that Pakistan and Korea have most friendly and cooperative relations since the two countries established diplomatic relationship. The two countries have been cooperating and coordinating their efforts under the international society including United Nations to promote mutual interests, he added.
He said that many Korean companies are taking advantage of the attractive investment and commercial opportunities and have undertaken business activities including infrastructure development projects in Pakistan.
Dr. Sarfraz Bashir said that bilateral trade between two countries in 2013 was US $ 1260 Million showing improvement on the trade volume of US $ 1100 Million in 2012. The Potential is much more requiring concerted efforts from both sides.
SCCI said that for improving bilateral trade, exchange of trade delegations and one-two-one meeting of businessmen of both sides are crucial for which both sides must ensure simple visa policy so that the businessmen get visa easily and meet each other as and when required.
SCCI President narrated that Pakistan’s rich natural resources and good quality manpower, if combined with Korea’s advanced technical know-how, technological advancement and its experience in the economic development would bring forth good results for expanding substantial cooperative relations in every sector.
