Karachi: The policies of federal government have increased the sense of deprivation among small provinces, said Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa province Syed Zafar Said, addressing a “Meet The Press” program at Karachi Press Club (KPC) here on Tuesday.

He said Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK) province despite sufficient resources has been facing economic difficulties due to the wrong policies of the federal government.

He said that the Karachi is the backbone of the national economy, adding that the hearts of the KP people are filled with love for Karachiites.

He said that the federal governments have never fulfilled their commitments made with the KP government in past and present. “However, we are striving hard to uproot corruption, maintain a genuine merit system in our province”, he claimed. He said their government is working on more than 30 projects related to Hydel power to overcome the energy crisis. He said that the KP government has established a Khyber Bank for ensuring interest-free banking.

However, unlike the JI leadership of Sindh province, Syed Zafar Said fully supported the construction of Kalabagh Dam, saying it will prove beneficial for the people of the country.
