KU hosts 3rd National Conference on Space Science and TechnologyOctober 6, 2015
KARACHI: The closing ceremony of 3rd National Conference on Space Science and Technology was held at H.E.J auditorium, University of Karachi, on October 6, 2015. The 2 days national conference was organized by the Institute of Space & Planetary Astrophysics (ISPA), University of Karachi with the collaboration of SUPARCO and Higher Education Commission (HEC). The theme of the conference was “Deep Space Discoveries”.
Dr Sajid Mirza, Member Space Science & Technology SUPARCO was the chief guest of the ceremony. He appreciated the efforts of ISPA for organizing this conference. He further highlighted that our main focus should be use this space technology for human benefit. He added that the topic of research is very wide in space science and technology and such events play catalytic role to accelerate research and development.
He added that the collaborative efforts are required among different universities to strengthen the research. He further added the progress in space science and technology has been very fast, modernizing the world and shrink the time and distances across the globe. He said that space science technology has multiple tools to work on including GPS, SRS and GIS etc that can be beneficial to earn handsome amount of money through commercial projects.
On the occasion, Hilton Pharma Ltd’s Chairman Sardar Yasin Malik said that Science has been so advanced that we can sight the moon scientifically. He offered that I will try to construct a fantastic and modern auditorium in the premises of University of Karachi.
Special guest Prof Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Hoorani, Director General, National Centre for Physics, Islamabad, offers to Karachi University and the department of Physics should arrange some scientific events related to Physics. The dean faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Syed Arif Kamal was also present in the occasion.
The conference’s convener and director ISPA, Prof. Dr. Jawed Iqbal expressed thanks to the conference speakers and organizing committee, especially to Dr. Mirza Jawwad Baig, Secretary Conference Organizing Committee, Mr. Faisal Afridi, Asst. Secretary Conference Organizing Committee and Mr. Anwar Ali Gaho, University Collaboration Coordinator, SUPARCO. He also stated gratitude to the audience of the conference.
More than 50 technical research papers have been presented in the conference in the areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Aeronautical and Aerospace Technologies, Satellite Communications & GNSS, Remote Sensing & GIS, Geo-Space Science, Atmospheric Science, Renewable Energy, Climatology & Meteorology, Fluid Dynamics and other related disciplines which have benefited individuals and on the large, to the audience.
Paper presenters were from the University of Punjab, Lahore; COMSAT, Lahore; Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad; NUST, Islamabad; PINSTECH, Islamabad; Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies, Islamabad; SUPARCO; Habib University, Karachi; Iqra University, Karachi; Hamdard University, Karachi; PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Karachi; NUST, Karachi; NED University of Engg. & Technology; FAST-NUCES, Karachi; Institute of Space Technology, Karachi; Sir Syed University of Engg. & Technology and University of Karachi. A large number of students, faculty members, scientists and professionals attended the Conference and fully benefited from the outcome of technical discussions.
