KARACHI: Spokesman Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Tuesday said water supply from pumping houses of Dhabeji, Gharo, Pepri, NEK and Hub was very much improved. Positive steps were being taken to provide water to all the areas of the city according to system and schedule.

“Meanwhile, due to interruption in provision of electricity to Pepri pumping house on Tuesday 68mgd water could not be supplied which has very much been controlled,” he said.

He said water supply from NEK and Hub pumping houses was supplied uninterrupted in district Central, district West and its adjacent areas. Free public tankers were being provided under the supervision of committee formed by commissioner Karachi comprising deputy commissioners and executive engineers of KWSB to the tail end areas, where water was scarce and where KWSB lines did not exist.

The spokesman said water was provided through 3000 public water tankers in Baldia, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Orangi Town, Metroville, Sikandarabad, and Malir.

“MD KWSB and deputy commissioners are themselves monitoring the free public tanker supply so that the deprived areas could be provided water which has improved water condition in the city,” he said.

MD KWSB has directed all the chief engineers for valve operation, vigilance, resolution of public complaints.

Regular power breakdown by KE has devastated the water supply schedule to the city in intense hot weather.
