Larkana braves heavy rains

LARKANA: Heavy monsoon rains hit entire Larkana district since last night collapsing entire system including failure of electricity for over 12 hours, submerging most of the localities because of power failure, the rain water could not be drained out of the streets & roads exposing the tall claims of the concerned authorities.

All feeders of Naundero grid station tripped on Sunday night because of heavy downpour accompanied by winds due to which all areas including Garhi Khuda Bux were plunged to darkness leaving the residents at the mercy of mosquito bites whole night in Naundero, Ratodero, Larkana, Badah, Bakrani, Dokri & Garhi Khuda Bux.

No technical staff was deployed by the SEPCO to rectify the faults as the citizens also made complaints through tweeter to Water & Power Ministers Khawaja Asif & Abid Sher Ali without any response. Rain water entered in Naundero police station damaging entire record room, Malkhana, lockup, property room. All cops quarters including those of SHO & DSP were also under deep water and one murder accused was tied with a window by the police due to accumulated water. The police station building is in worst condition as it was built long ago without any repairs since then so far.

In Naundero, PPP City President took great efforts and forced the sanitation staff to drain out the rain water using their old method throwing water into the nullah which had submerged almost all streets and roads. The wall of the main disposal was broken due to which water was disposed off within few hours except police station.

In Larkana, electricity was partly restored after hectic efforts of 16 hours.

In Naundero, Garhi Khuda Bux, Ratodero and elsewhere it was not repaired even after passage of 18 hours till filing of this report due to which draining outstanding rain water process was not only delayed but it complicated the sufferings of the citizens. Knee deep water was seen standing on parts of VIP Road in front of Pilot School, Lahori Muhalla, Bhains Colony, Nazar Muhalla, Suki Pul, old bus stand, municipal school, Gajanpur & Miro Khan roundabout, Dodai road, Rahmatpur, Civil Lines police station and other areas. Larkana municipal sanitation staff was busy in draining out the stagnant water in some localities.
