Larkana’s doctors to launch struggle for rightsSeptember 15, 2015
LARKANA: In an important meeting held at the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) office here on Wednesday, it was decided by the doctors to start an struggle to secure their just rights from Thursday (today) as “the promises made with them have not been honoured”, said PMA President Dr Shah Baig Chandio.
The meeting was also participated by the Chandka Teachers Association (CTA) and 39 senior doctors who are awaiting offer orders since a month as the result was declared on August 17, approval of which was granted by Syndicate on August 18, whereas ban on appointments was imposed by Sindh Chief Minister through a letter dated August 26.
The meeting was attended by Professors Akbar Soomro, Shahida Shaikh, Hanif Shaikh, doctors Imdad Ansari, Shaista Abro, Shazia Shaikh and others. Dr. Chandio further said that they had given enough time to resolve the issue amicably but nothing has been done, which has forced them to close down the faculty and come out on roads.
PMA statement further said that no doctor will take part in election while huger strike will also be held on Thursday.
Meanwhile, on September 03, 2015, the Vice Chancellor, BBMU, wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Chief Minister for Universities & Boards seeking his guideline “whether the ban is applicable to them as well”.
In his letter, the VC informed the secretary that “the appointment of faculty & staff is mandatory because we are in process of establishment & strengthening of institutes as per requirement of Statutory Bodies such as PM&DC, HEC, PNC and Pharmacy Councils of Pakistan, Islamabad”. In yet other development, the CTA has also called its meeting tomorrow (Thursday) to chalk out further line of action.
