Looking back in time: Most Pakistanis today would support Pakistan’s creation,Poll

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 93% Pakistanis would vote for the creation of Pakistan if they were an adult in 1947.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Suppose you were an adult in 1947, and therefore able to cast vote, would you vote in favor of the creation of Pakistan or opposition?” Responding to this question, 93% respondents said they would vote in favor of the creation of Pakistan if they were an adult in 1947 and eligible to vote. Only 7% respondents said they would not vote in favor of the creation of Pakistan.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2558 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during August 18 – August 25, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
