Major among five killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: A major among five people were shot dead and four others injured in different violence incidents in the city on Sunday. Major Aamir Azhar, 45, son of Mohammad Ali, was gunned down by unknown armed men at Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.

Separately, Maulana Mohammad Faisal, 35, son of Mohammad Ashraf, was shot dead by unknown assailants near Pakistan Masjid in Ranchhore Lane area. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy.

In another incident, an activist of a political party was killed and another injured in clash with another group. Station House Officer (SHO) Quaidabad police station informed that a clash took place between workers of two political parties at Majeed Colony Sector-I in Landhi, where exchange of firing took place between both groups, resultantly Amir, 25, was killed and Farid, 24, son of Mushtaq, injured.

The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Meanwhile, Nadeem, 30, son of Ahmed, was shot dead by unknown armed men along Mirza Adan Khan Road in Lyari. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for a postmortem examination.

In Surjani town, a man, Umer Khan, was shot dead by unknown armed men. The body was shifted ASH for an autopsy. Imran Maseeh, 21, son of Yousuf Maseeh, was injured in firing by unknown persons near Mianwali Colony. The injured was shifted to ASH for treatment. A 50-year-old man, Iqbal, son of Sultan, was shot and injured by unknown armed men at Old Vegetable Market. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment. Sadam Ali, 40, son of Liaquat Ali, was injured by unidentified armed motorcycle riders at Qazzafi Town in Landhi. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.
