Major mishap at Karachi airport averted

Karachi: Due to negligence of technical staff two PIA passenger flights came too near to one another at Karachi Airport but fortunately they could not collide, said the sources.

One of the flight coming from Turbat was landing the other flight for Faisalabad was taking off. They added.

However, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi at about 1500 hours, an incident occurred between two PIA ATR aircrafts due to human error.

Air Marshal (Retd) Mohammad Yousaf, Director General CAA has taken a very serious note of it and immediately ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The concerned officials on duty have been suspended till further orders. The operation at JIAP Karachi is normal.
