Malaysian university’s delegation visits DUHS

KARACHI: A four-member delegation of Sultan Zainal Abidin University Malaysia headed by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Mahadzirah Binti Mohamad, on Tuesday visited Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) as part of an initiative for future academic collaborations.

The the delegation’s visit to Dow University was aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration with special emphasis on areas such as health and research. The delegation was received by Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Prof Masroor and senior faculty members of the University.

In three-day visit to the university, the delegation would have several meetings with panel of experts at DUHS to find out areas of mutual collaboration and interest.

In the opening meeting, Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan briefed the delegation about the history and establishments of DUHS the progress it has made over the years. The delegation was also briefed about University’s different undergraduates and postgraduates programs and healthcare service programs.

He also briefed the delegation about the envisaged projects which the university had undertaken and about to initiate in collaboration with the other different institutions.

Later on, the delegation took an extensive round of the Dow University and its constituent institutions including Dow Medical College and Ojha Campus. They also visited different departments, laboratories, surgical & medical units, professional development centre, quality enhancement cell and computerized IT Department, and Animal House at Ojha Campus. The delegation also met with Professors and senior faculty members of the University.

The delegation in his brief comments appreciated the measures being taken for the elevation of the University with the hope that it would go a long way in context of teaching, learning, and research programs.
