Marri for giving more rights to women

KARACHI: PPP’s Member National Assembly Shazia Marri has said that Sindh and Balochistan provinces had previously passed women protection laws, adding t Punjab government is making such a law controversial.

She expressed these views while addressing to a seminar on “The Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace” at a local hotel arranged by provincial ombudsman.

She said that Punjab government should take in confidence of all stakeholders. The main object of this law is to create feeling of protection amongst women, she said.

Marri said that women are not only harassed in villages, but they are also targeted also in cities like Karachi. She said however changes is being witnessed now and people are give respecting to their daughters.

She further said that we are not demanding rule over men but our due rights should be given to us. Due representation is not there for women in standing committees of parliament, she observed.
